The LCHS Shooting Team Competed In The Tennessee State Trap Shooting Championship
The LCHS Shooting Team competed in the Tennessee State Trap Shooting Championship June 21st and 22nd at the largest shotgun sports venue in the state, The Nashville Gun Club.
The Junior Varsity team took 3rd place in the state, competing against 48 teams.
Individual scores were Jordan Haney (93 out of 100), Logan Cowheard 92, Connor Walters 91, Rhett Yates 87, Tanner Clark 85, Jotham Saunders 82, and Grant Counce 72.
Logan Cowheard and Jordan Haney were also awarded 25 Straight Patches for shooting consecutive 25 clays without a miss during the event.
The Varsity Squads individual high scores were Ben Evers 99, Bobby Benson 95, Ben Threet 95, JP Story 87, Ethan Wallace 84, Derek Eaton 82 and Chase Kobeck 80.
The Varsity 1 squad came in 31st out of 81 Varsity teams. Although the varsity scores were not high enough to place, there were 3 individual awards given.
Bobby Benson and Ben Threet were both awarded 25 straight patches and Senior Ben Evers won the teams first ever 75 straight patch.
Three individuals from other teams at the competition scored a perfect 100 and competed in a shoot off for Grand Champion, Gold and Silver metals. Evers’ individual score was high enough to put him in a shoot off for the Bronze metal against 14 other shooters which had also scored 99.
Evers was eliminated after the 4th round of the shoot off, but made honorable mention as one of this elite group which makes up the top 17 Trap shooters in the state of Tennessee.
